Stay on Top of Your Game with Chiropractic

Summer is in full swing! In addition to the grill outs, festivals and other fun activities, summer weather also means summer sports. While extra movement is a GREAT thing, as we all know or have found out the hard way, it can also put extra stress on our bodies. The good news is, chiropractic not only helps you heal from injuries, it can help you avoid them in the first place, recover more quickly, AND perform your best!

Chiropractic looks at the entire kinetic chain of the body, assessing any tensions or restrictions, and focuses on alignment so the joints move properly. Chiropractors also look at body symmetry, helping to stabilize and balance spinal muscles, which are important to agility. In addition, a recent systematic review published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics helped demonstrate the effectiveness of spinal manipulative in increasing muscle strength as well as reduction of muscle fatigue.

And if that’s not enough, look no further than recommendations from some of your favorite athletes! According to the American Chiropractic Association, approximately 90 percent of all world-class athletes use chiropractic care to prevent injuries and increase their performance.

The Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA), Major League Baseball (MLB) and the National Football League (NFL) all have chiropractors on staff. U.S. Olympic athletes began working with sports chiropractors in 1976. Some of the greats who rely on chiropractic to keep them going strong include: Lance Armstrong (king of cycling), Michael Phelps (Olympic gold medal swimmer), Tom Brady (top NFL quarterback), Michael Jordan (basketball legend), Tiger Woods (golf legend), and Venus Williams (a seven-time Grand Slam Women’s Tennis champion). In fact, when asked about chiropractic, Williams said, “Chiropractic gives me the flexibility I need to keep me in the game.”

It isn’t just adult athletes who can benefit, either. If your child is involved in sports, now is the time to start providing the regular care they need to prevent many common sports injuries before they have a chance to occur.

Whether you’re hitting the trails on your bike or hitting the tennis court, be sure to add a regular visit to Whole Health Chiropractic to your training schedule to keep you on top of your game!
